It’s a rare treat to see two very distinct architectural styles right next to each other, as parts of the same building. The white tower on the left is pure Gothic, dating from between 1250-1400. The ornate building on the right was attached to the older gothic structure in 1572-1577 by an atrium, and manifests all the traits of the German Renaissance style.
Though damaged during the Second World War, the Rothenburg city hall was in much better shape than many other German city halls, and the structure was quickly restored in the years after 1945.
